Faculty Workshop
Paper submission deadline: 1 May, 2026
We would like to invite paper submissions for the annual European Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (SEI) Faculty Workshop to be held on Friday, 11 September – Saturday, 12 September, at the SKEMA Business School, in Sophia Antipolis campus. The small-scale workshop builds upon the success of previous SEI Faculty Workshops and aims to provide a forum for in-depth discussion for scholars in the fields of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and/or Innovation who are preparing high-potential manuscripts for submission to top journals. Junior faculty (e.g., assistant professors, tenure-track faculty) will receive priority and are especially encouraged to submit their work. The Faculty Workshop will take place alongside the Doctoral Consortium, constituting a single event.

About the SEI faculty workshop: The SEI Consortium is an initiative of faculty from Europe’s leading business schools to help advance the research frontier and stimulate the academic labour market. To this end, it supports an annual Faculty Workshop and a Doctoral Consortium. The purpose of the Faculty Workshop is to bring together top scholars from European institutions whose research focuses on strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. It provides a venue to present work in development and receive feedback from leading scholars in the field, including several members of editorial boards of journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Management Science, Organization Science, Research Policy, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, and Strategic Management Journal, among others. Several papers presented in past workshops have been published in those outlets. There will be plenty of opportunities for informal discussion and networking outside the formal presentations, including coffee breaks, meals, and dinners.

Selection process: Junior faculty members (e.g., assistant professors and tenure trackers) and those who have not presented at the SEI before are especially encouraged to apply. All participants are expected to be based in Europe.

Paper format: Each paper will have about 45 minutes for presentation and discussion. All participants are expected to read the papers and contribute to the discussion. The submitted papers should contribute to one or more of the following broad areas: strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Since the aim of this developmental workshop is to help prepare articles for submission to top journals, papers must not have already been accepted or be close to being accepted. Preference will be given to papers by junior faculty.

Schedule: The deadline for paper submissions is May 1st, 2026. Please use the link below to submit your paper. Please submit your paper with names and affiliations on the first page, separate from the paper itself. A selection committee will conduct blind reviews and rank all papers according to the selection criteria. The top-scoring papers will be selected for inclusion in the program. No feedback will be provided at this stage. We aim to inform authors of accepted papers by mid June 2026.

Transportation, lodging, and meals: Faculty presenters are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. There is no registration fee for the workshop.
The submission window is now closed. We aim to inform authors of accepted papers by mid-July 2023.
Doctoral Consortium
Student nomination deadline: 1 May, 2026
We invite nominations from faculty at business schools in Europe for their doctoral students to participate in the SEI Doctoral Consortium, to be held on Friday, 11 September – Saturday, 12 September, at the SKEMA Business School's Sophia Antipolis campus. The consortium seeks to bring together a select group of doctoral students doing research in the areas of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and/or Innovation.

About the SEI Doctoral Consortium: The SEI Consortium is an initiative of faculty from Europe’s leading business schools to help advance the research frontier and stimulate the academic labour market. To this end, it supports an annual Faculty Workshop and a Doctoral Consortium. The SEI Doctoral Consortium provides doctoral students at universities in Europe with a unique opportunity to present their dissertation-stage research to, and receive developmental feedback from, leading strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship scholars, including the editors of many of the top journals in the field. Ample informal mentoring and networking opportunities will be provided outside the formal student presentations, including coffee breaks, lunches, and dinners.

Selection process: Nominations should be made by the faculty (rather than the student) and should be coordinated at the institution level. Since the consortium is designed to help students develop their research, we prefer nominees whose research is beyond the thesis proposal stage. A selection committee will evaluate all nominees, and only a select group of Ph.D. students will be invited to attend. Priority will be given to students who have not presented at a previous SEI consortium and students whose thesis advisor commits to participating in the event. All participants are expected to be based in Europe. We strive for diversity in institutions, participants, and research topics.

To nominate, the following information is requested:
-
Doctoral student name and affiliation
-
Advisor’s name and affiliation
-
The stage that the student has reached in the doctoral program
-
Confirmation that the student has not presented previously at the SEI Consortium
-
Confirmation that the advisor will commit to participating in the event
-
The rank of the nominated student in your institution’s nomination list, if more than one student is being nominated from your institution
-
An up-to-date CV of the nominee

Schedule: The deadline for submitting nominations is 1 May, 2026. Submissions should be made online using the link below. We aim to inform accepted Ph.D. students by mid-June 2026.

Transportation, lodging, and meals: The hosting institution will reimburse the cost of transportation within the limit of our budget, such as flights (economy), and arrange the accommodation (two-night stay) for all invited Ph.D. students. There is no registration fee for the workshop.
The submission window is now closed. We aim to inform accepted Ph.D. students by mid-July 2023.
